The premise of this story was a bit different and I liked it. It was about a mail order teacher who became a bride. Short and sweet with a little twist thrown in.
Another great book provided by my kindle unlimited subscription.
A young lady had lost her whole family to cholera, so she decided to answer an advertisement for a Bride. After traveling across this great country she was met with an empty house, the intended had given up on Her after she had been delayed because of outlaws.Needing a job she overheard a rancher tell a person in the store where she had stopped that he was looking for a governess and asked for the position. A must read for those who enjoy historical western romance kindle books from at a special price and from a delightful author who keeps me entertained throughout the entire book before putting it down.
This story is an easy read. It held my interest the entire time. This is the first time I have read anything by this author. Enjoy!!!
Cole was the widower cowboy with two small daughters to be cared for. Irene was the aunt answering the cowboys advertisement for a governess for his children. When she arrived she ran into problems that had to be worked out. This is a good read.
The relationship between the rancher and the governess did not feel real. Granted, the rancher was handsome, but he was a drunk, as well as selfish. He ignored his young daughters after his wife died, relied on his cook and the go Ernest to take care of them while he drowned his sorrows in a bottle. What made the governess fall in love with him? Also the rancher fought with his neighbors. The neighbor's ranch hands tried to kidnap his daughters, beat up the governess and broke into the rancher's home. Yet we the readers are supposed to believe this selfish man can immediately forgive the neighbor! What a crock. This story is very juvenile and silly.
I gave this novella four stars because the ending was so fast. I would have liked more about them falling in love and the details of the wedding. After all the wedding is the romantic part for me. The story line was great and the writing was also. I did not see any errors for those readers who look for them. I've read several of Emma Ashwood stories and have enjoyed them all. I live in the country and know how important good neighbors are and water rights. I found the little water problem in this story interesting.
